Case Study for the Jubilee line

Latest Technology for the Jubilee Line Extension 1999-2000

The opening of the Jubilee Line Extension (JLE) was the first major addition to the London Underground tube network since the opening of the Victoria Line in the 1960s. Both VTUs and a customer announcement system were required. Each of the new ticket offices featured a brand-new design with a totally glass frontage to the ticket office area. The voice transfer units needed to allow transactions between customer and cashier through the 40mm thick glass.

The deadline was the start of the Millennium. Voice Perfect collaborated with Marconi, who provided the station management system, as well as Lovells (now YJL), who had the contract to construct and fit out the ticket offices. All eleven stations were equipped on time with Voice Perfect's Talk-2 VTUs and our integrated digital voice announcer (now known as SCAS®).

To this day, Voice Perfect are still maintaining and upgrading both products in conjunction with Telent Ltd and Enhance Plc.
